Laura Cater-Woods
Laura is a full time studio artist with an extensive international exhibition record. Her award winning mixed media and fiber art is held in public, private and corporate collections. The abstract imagery explores the textures and rhythms of details from the landscape, often interwoven with eccentric grids. In 1998-99 she was honored with a Montana Arts Council Fellowship in Visual Arts, Mixed Media.
In addition to Percent for Art Commissions, gallery exhibitions and presenting workshops internationally, Laura curates and juries for fiber exhibitions and all media shows. Her imagery and writing are widely published.
A compulsive mark-maker, Laura lives in Billings, Montana where she gardens, walks along the Yellowstone River in the morning and tries to find the perfect balance between studio time and everything else.

Ruth Chandler
Ruth had the privilege of growing up in Japan as the oldest daughter of a missionary. Her father exposed her to many Japanese art forms. He encouraged the family to follow their interests.
The vibrant color and texture of Japanese fabric combined with the simplicity of Japanese design caught Ruth’s attention and imagination. At the age of 4, Ruth learned basic Sachiko from an elderly neighbor. She began to create and sew her own clothes at the age of 10 with the help of her mother. Although she began to create her own clothing out of necessity, it soon became an outlet for her imagination and creativity.
Ruth moved to Colorado with her husband in 1979 and made her first quilt in 1990. Her first quilt was a queen size hand appliqued and hand quilted Hawaiian pineapple quilt and she has never looked back. She loves to use new techniques mingled with the old for her own unique style. There is always a slight Asian feel to her work that shows the influence of her years spent in Japan.
Ruth lives in Colorado with her very supportive husband of 31 years. She has a daughter and son, both married and 3 beautiful grandchildren.

Liz Kettle
Liz Kettle is a fabric and mixed media artist with a passion for teaching others the joy of making their own personal art and the powerful growth experience found in the creative process.
Liz began her explorations in fabric by following a traditional approach to quilting. After filling her tool box with the skills needed for success in the traditional arena she began to delve into the world of art quilting and discovered a world of freedom and fun in mixed media. Liz’s eclectic work is influenced by her beautiful surroundings in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, her love of vintage textiles and history. She incorporates layers, imagery and found objects to tell stories of the land and people.
Liz’s work and articles have been featured in Quilting Arts magazine and Quilter's Home magazine. She is one of the co-authors of Fabric Embellishing: The Basics and Beyond (released Oct 2009) and Threads: The Basics and Beyond (releasing Spring 2010). Liz lives in Colorado with her very supportive husband and has three wonderful sons who are just beginning their own journeys.

Carol Sloan
Carol is a mixed media fiber artist. She has been creating art her entire life but turned to quilting when her son was born 21 years ago. She loves traditional quilting but doesn’t follow directions very well and kept switching things up to do the “her way”. She has experimented with a lot of different mediums and tends to include a lot of different techniques in all her work. She loves to share her knowledge through teaching. Her favorite part is the story that emerges with each piece of artwork.
Carol lives in South Carolina with her very supportive (and handsome) husband and son (who is away at art school right now).
