Textile Evolution FAQs

Please tell me more about the rooms at the retreat center. All the rooms at the Franciscan retreat center are furnished with single beds sporting new mattresses and ceiling fans. The cozy rooms feature antique dressers with lace doilies and feel like a home away from home. There are no phones or televisions in the rooms to help you focus on creativity and take time for yourself. The retreat center offers multiple gathering areas for relaxing and chatting with friends new and old. Wireless internet is available.

Can I bring a non-student guest? You may bring a non-student guest. They will be charged for room charges and dining if they would like to participate in group meals. They will be on their own to explore the beautiful area while you are in classes all day. Please contact us directly for arrangements.

Is there an age minimum for students? We love to encourage young adults to hone their sewing skills and would welcome them into our retreat. Skill level and maturity is a bigger factor than age. We can not supply any supervision outside of class. Please contact us directly to determine if your teen will enjoy this retreat.

Do I need a fancy sewing machine for these classes? No, all of our classes are designed for the student with a basic machine. While on the subject of machines, please note that our teachers have packed their classes full of information and that does not allow for time to trouble shoot individual machine problems. Please have your machine cleaned and in good repair before class.

Can I bring in food and beverages? The retreat center does allow you to bring in snacks and beverages including alcohol. We just ask that you take extra care to avoid spills and drink responsibly.

What type of clothing should I pack? Spring, Summer, or Fall in the Rockies can bring a plethora of weather patterns all within the span of an hour. Clothing that can be layered is your best bet. Fleece and lightweight jackets work well for our changeable temperatures. Most importantly is to dress comfortably.

What if I choose to or need to arrive early or stay later? The Colorado Springs area is a beautiful place to visit with lots of great experiences. There is limited availability for extending your stay at the retreat center. Contact us for more information. There are also numerous hotels in the area if you prefer. You may want to visit the Colorado Springs visitor’s bureau for lots of great things to do and see. www.experiencecoloradosprings.com

Which airport should I fly into? Both Colorado Springs Airport and Denver International Airport are options. The retreat center is approximately 30 minutes from Colorado Springs Airport and about 90 minutes for Denver International. Rental cars are available at both airports and driving in the Denver/Colorado Springs area is uncomplicated. Cab service is an option from Colorado Springs Airport. Let us know when you are arriving and we will try to arrange for a pick up if we can coordinate multiple students arrivals.

What about special diets? We understand special dietary concerns and allergies. While we can’t accommodate every issue we will make every effort to work with you. We provide vegetarian and gluten free options as required. Please contact us directly to discuss your needs.
